Australian-based Exploration Company, Woodside Energy, has become the latest company to declare its support for the NERC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Oil & Gas, bringing the total number of industrial core partners to eleven. Moreover, Woodside has backdated its support to the beginning of the scheme to mirror that of the other ten companies.

Although headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, Woodside has recently opened a London office from where it will run its active Ireland exploration campaign, among other projects.

John Underhill, the NERC CDT Academic Director said: “It is excellent news to have a company of the pedigree of Woodside join the industrial team supporting the NERC CDT. The company’s support for the scheme demonstrates how attractive and relevant the NERC CDT and its PhD research and training program are to international operators at a time of severe oil-price challenge”

Dr Alwyn Vear, Woodside Energy (UK) Limited’s manager for Geo-science and Exploration said: “Woodside is delighted to become part of the CDT community. We look forward to active involvement in the programme and working with some of the best academics and brightest young researchers in the oil and gas sector”
